The Lagan rises on Slieve Croob, south of Dromara in Co.Down, and flows in a crescent - like course through Dromore, past Lurgan and Lisburn, to the tide at Belfast Lough.

Under an agreement with Department of Agriculture, Iveagh Angling Club excercises the fishing rights on all the stretches (14miles) of the River Lagan between Thorneyford Bridge, outside Dromore, to Spencers Bridge, at Flatfield, Co.Down.

This is well stocked, well maintained and beautifull river to fish. It offers some of the nicest brown trout fishing in Northern Ireland and stretches at Donaghcloney and Blackscull can be specially recommended.

Notices are posted at access points on all stretches indicating permited methods and restrictions, where appropriate. Day tickets issued for Sunday fishing do not permit holders to fish those stretches signposted 'no Sunday fishing'.

The river here is well known for quality of its fly hatches and brown trout fishing, particulary in late April, May and June.
